Randomness in Music

In Contemporary Music random is an often used variable. It's an important parameter to get structures and expressions you might never had wasted a thought on, also in times of less creativity, random is a true friend to get an overview what could be possible. Somehow it expands your thinking and opens your mind, in times of depression. An example:

Sometimes randomness stands in a bad light in the heads of the people. In music, especially in improvised music a random factor is essential to get quick forward. A lot of decisions and inventions also got a deep influence of some random factors, at least our existence.

So is random a factor we can't see because of its complexity? Something we can't describe through words and thinking? Or is it a guide through our whole evolution? It surely can be seen as the god of our time, which leads us trough a time of unsureness and desperation, in situations where pure rational thinking isn't nearly a good advise. Or am I wrong.
